I heard that I need Carbon Monoxide detectors in my residential building, is it true and where can I locate information on the requirements?
Local Law 7 took effect on November 1, 2004.  It has requirements for Carbon Monoxide detection in all residential buildings, hospitals and schools that contain Fossil burning fuel equipment.  The Law is somewhat complicated, please contact High Rise and we will evaluate your particular facility.

Can I have white horn strobes at my facility in NYC?
Yes.  White horn strobes are acceptable in NYC as long as they have an MEA approval number.

Can Pull Station be White in NYC?
No.  Per Subchapter 17 on the building code, pull station must be red in color.  It must also include a 1 inch white stripe top left to bottom right for units that call a central station company.

Can I install an emergency paging system in my residential apartment building?
High Rise Fire can obtain a variance to install a one-way voice for FD use only in your residential apartment building.

What new changes can I expect in the fire codes?
The City is in the process of adopting NFPA or the International Building Code, which could effect future fire alarm requirements for all types of occupancies.

Can I install a Class 'E' System in a non-Class 'E' Building?
High Rise Fire can obtain a variance to install a Class 'E' System in a non-Class 'E' Building.  Items contained within TPPN # 8/93 must be answered and the certificate of occupancy may have to be obtained or updated for the building.

For an office building less than 75 feet in height with greater than 100 people above or below the ground floor, what is the appropriate system to install in the building?
In accordance with TPPN # 1/03 the appropriate system to install is an Interior Non-Coded Fire Alarm System in lieu of a Mini Class 'E' Communication and Alarm System.

For a residential building greater than 300 feet in height, do I still have to install a strapkey standpipe signaling system?
In accordance with TPPN # 3/03 An "Alternate" Standpipe Fireline Telephone And Signaling System (SFTSS) for
'J-2' Occupancy (Residential) is what is presently required.
